I am the father of a hockey goalie. I am also
an entreprenuer, a software developer and a business process
consultant.
Many of the core ideas around the PCT process
come directly from my work providing management
consulting to companies like Federal Express, The United
Way, The Hartford, and other large, well-known local companies.
These companies are now using a process very
similiar to the PCT process to manage complex projects, coordinate
the efforts of multiple teams, and align efforts with intended
results. These companies are successfully using an empirical,
iterative method called 'Scrum'.
Leaders at companies like Microsoft, Yahoo,
and Google are using Scrum to increase productivity, encourage
teamwork, and manage complexity. You can examine more detail
about this by checking out the links on the Resources page.
Scrum is a proven and flexible framework for managing projects,
and overall project complexity.
Yahoo
specifically is using Scrum to run entire divisions of
the business...not
just
software
projects. Many venture capital companies are now adopting Scrum
as the framework for organizing their complex work.
The entire PCT Process is inspired by
Scrum. Scrum is
a set of clear roles, tasks, and boundaries combined with an
iterative, adaptive framework for executing on teamwork. The
simple Scrum
process is transforming project management worldwide. Scrum teams
experience
a 'hyperproductive state' that is from 4 to 10 times more
productive than teams using other approaches.
Specific techniques such
as Scrum are part of what are known generally as Agile methods.
I am a Certified ScrumMaster who is
